Spanish Writing Program for Bilingual Students in Grades K-5 Project # RFP 25-008 A. PURPOSE General Description: The Bridgeton Board of Education is requesting proposals from companies that provide writing program to support Bilingual students in grades K-5, whose first language is Spanish. Scope: We are seeking an organization/company able to provide a systematic writing program specifically designed for Bilingual students in grades K-5 learning to read in Spanish and/transitioning to English, but still needing Spanish support. The program must address the New Jersey Learning Standards and provide differentiated instruction for students functioning on different academic levels. The program must address the specific needs of students in grades K-5, who are at various stages of the writing process, as well as the needs of students without formal education in grades 2-5. Although the program must have a digital component, the program should also offer the opportunity to purchase or print resources, charts, workbooks and other materials. B. SCOPE OF SERVICE Program must use a systematic method to teach students learning to read and write in Spanish. Program must accelerate Spanish writing proficiency and literacy learning. The district is looking for a writing program, but we understand that a reading component might be intrinsically related, and therefore, it can be used in conjunction with the writing program. However, the reading component can be used as a complement or additional resource, and not necessarily as a required piece of the program. Besides the standard features, which are a common denominator to English and Spanish language, when needed, the program must adapt and meet the needs of Spanish speakers learning to read and write in Spanish. Programs can use an authentic and innovative approach to accelerate learning, or a traditional approach to writing. The program must include a digital component. However, it should also offer the opportunity to purchase or print resources, charts, workbooks and other materials. The program must address the New Jersey Learning Standards and provide for differentiated instruction for students functioning on different academic levels.
