RFP for Weed Abatement Services Proposal/Mowing Services

The County of San Benito, hereinafter referred to as "County", invites responses to a Request for Proposals to provide the following. This Request for Proposal (RFP) seeks qualified vendors to provide weed abatement services aimed at enhancing fire prevention measures within San Benito County. The selected contractor will primarily be responsible for mowing along select designated roadways, normally rural two lane roads. However, Contractor may be asked to implement effective vegetation management in other areas of the County. If so, Contractor should use strategies that reduce fire hazards while adhering to all relevant environmental regulations and best practices in land management. Comprehensive assessment of the project areas to identify high-risk vegetation. Implementation of a tailored weed abatement plan that includes mechanical and manual removal methods. Regular reporting on progress and efficacy of weed abatement efforts. Full compliance with state and local environmental regulations. This project is essential to minimize wildfire risks in our community, safeguarding both lives and property. The proactive management of vegetation contributes to immediate fire prevention, and therefore must be performed on a timely basis The proposal evaluation will occur shortly after the submission deadline of May 20, 2025 . Clarifications and questions regarding this RFP must be submitted by May 8, 2025 , allowing vendors to receive timely responses and adjustments ahead of the final proposal submission. San Benito County has a population of approximately 67,000 residents, inclusive of two incorporated cities, the City of Hollister, and the City of San Juan Bautista. The County is located 30 minutes east of Monterey Bay and 45 minutes south of San Jose, and is a General Law County that operates under a County Board of Supervisors, a County Administrative Officer, and elected and appointed Department Heads.
