Request for Proposals - Safety Consultant Services

The City of South San Francisco (“The City”) is issuing this Request for Proposals (RFP) to consulting firms interested in working with the City to aid City staff in the ongoing delivery of the City’s Occupational Health and Safety Program, which includes, but is not limited to, employee training, developing and maintaining health and safety programs and policies, and ensuring the workplace is safe and free of hazards. The City utilizes the services of a safety consultant to help maintain and implement these programs and to ensure that the City remains compliant with all applicable local, state and federal guidelines and regulatory standards. South San Francisco, "The Industrial City" was incorporated on September 19, 1908. The City is home to 66,105 residents over its 30 square miles. South San Francisco is located approximately 8 miles south of Downtown San Francisco and is adjacent to the northern border of the San Francisco Airport and San Bruno, south of Daly City, Colma, and Brisbane, and east of Pacifica. The City of South San Francisco is a general law city, which operates under the Council/Manager form of government with a FY 2023/24 General Fund budget of $140 million and a total budget of $295 million. The City employs approximately four hundred eighty (480) full-time permanent employees and approximately three hundred fifty (350) part-time hourly employees. The City has eleven departments, which include the departments of Economic and Community Development (Including Building Inspection, Housing, Planning, and Economic Development), Finance, Fire, Human Resources, Information Technology, Library, Parks and Recreation (includes facility maintenance, park maintenance, and City tree maintenance), Police, Public Works (includes street and sewer maintenance, City fleet maintenance, and code enforcement), the Office of the City Manager and the Office of the City Clerk. The City also operates a Water Quality Control Plant that services the City as well as neighboring jurisdictions.
