Pierce County / Planning and Public Works
Description
Pierce County is creating a Vision Zero Action Plan, which will include strategies aimed at the goal of eliminating traffic fatalities and serious injury crashes on County roads by 2035. The Pierce County Council passed Resolution R2022-118 in August 2022, which “directs the Planning and Public Works Department to begin preparing a Vision Zero Action Plan for Pierce County roadways with the goal of presenting the plan to the Council for its consideration no later than October 1, 2024.” In January 2023, Pierce County was informed that we received a Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant from the US Department of Transportation. Pierce County will work with a variety of external stakeholders, internal staff and management, the Pierce County Transportation Advisory Commission, and the County Council during Plan development.
