Regional Parks Fire Fuel Reduction Work

General work description: Sacramento County Regional Parks is seeking a Non-profit or Conservation Corps to help preserve and protect beautiful, scenic, and sensitive habitat adjacent to the American River. The project will take place at various locations along the Parkway, with particular attention given to Sacramento Bar, Rossmoor Bar, Sailor Bar, Ancil Hoffman Park/Effie Yeaw Nature Center, Discovery Park and Rollingwood. These locations are under the control of the County of Sacramento and crews will work under the guidance of County Parks and Metro Fire personnel (Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District is responsible for managing fires and other emergencies along the Parkway) on all the various components of this project. The components of the project include the following: Removal and destruction of invasive species that add to fire fuel threats. Removal of ladder fuels on native species that contribute to fire threats. Planting native plugs of sedge to reduce ongoing fire threats. Cutting firebreaks where appropriate to provide separation between the wild scenic. Outcomes: We estimate the removal of plants over varying terrain. Destroy invasive plan material by chipping and shredding so plants don't propagate. Remove ladder fuels from native species. We estimate that ladder fuel clearance up to eight feet and removal of material. create appropriate firebreaks. Professional service will be required from March 2023 to April 2029 or until the work is completed. This contract is subject to review and approval by the County Board of Supervisors. Note: Verification of status as a Non-Profit or Conservation Corps organization is required.
