Registered Professional Forester Services

The Sacramento County Department of Regional Parks (Regional Parks) is soliciting proposals for services provided by a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) to provide consulting services to assist in the planning and implementation of the Cosumnes Ladder Fuel Reduction Project (Project) a grant funded project. This Project was proposed to reduce the risk of a catastrophic wildfire for the community of Rancho Murieta and surrounding rural residential properties in the vicinity of Deer Creek Hills Preserve by reducing ladder fuels and understory density through the project area, which will also allow for the application of routine prescribed fires that can contribute to the woodlands ecosystem resiliency. This work will coincide with activities to control non-native plants species and planting of native oaks in order to promote the health of about 1,152 acres of existing Blue Oak Woodlands. The services requested will involve preparation of plans and prescriptions for three treatment areas within the project area (see image below) and identifying priority treatment areas, in coordination with the Deer Creek Hills Preserve Manager, Regional Parks’ Project Manager, and private land owners. The RPF will provide the project description for the environmental document, will assist in the development of invasive species and planting plans, will assist in the preparation of contract solicitations and reviews for the Project, and will assist in contract oversight and quality assurance. Additionally, the RPF will need to maintain accurate and detailed records documenting the project description, project location, schedule, dollars allocated, and will need to provide quarterly reports to meet the obligations of the grant including the emissions reporting and requirements associated with funds distributed under the California Climate Investment and the California Air Resource Board reporting requirements (https://ww2.arb.ca.gov/resources/documents/cci-quantification-benefits-and-reporting-materials). The RPF will participated in planning and implementation meetings and may also be requested to participate in community meetings. Other related RFP services may also be requested under contingency.
