Culturally Specific Support Groups/Counseling for Caregivers

Family and friends provide the bulk of caregiving support in our community, with an estimated one in five Americans caring for an adult with health or functional needs ( Caregiving in the U.S. 2020 report ). The impact of providing unpaid caregiving not only has financial, work and social implications but also has been shown to significantly effect mental health ( American Psychological Association, 2015 ). The Family Caregiver Support Program is funded through the Older Americans Act to assist families and other informal caregivers caring for someone at home. Through this solicitation, we are seeking a licensed bilingual practitioner with experience supporting caregivers and/or older adults through individual counseling and support groups. Our program aims to support caregivers in coping with the emotional strain of this work, problem solving, and caring for themselves through short-term solution focused therapy and/or group support. The County will be issuing multiple contracts for this work.
