Workforce Development for Culturally Specific Suicide Prevention

Washington County is requesting proposals from qualified organizations to provide workforce development training and ongoing support for culturally specific suicide prevention services to residents of Washington County. The goals of this funding opportunity are to: Create an equitable and diverse suicide prevention/behavioral health workforce that is equipped and supported to address the needs of the communities they serve. Expand comprehensive suicide prevention programs/services for populations disproportionately affected by suicide, with a focus on historically marginalized communities and persons with suicide-centered lived experience. The Workforce Development for Culturally Specific Suicide Prevention Activities NOFO will focus on developing culturally specific suicide prevention, intervention, and/or postvention services throughout Washington County, with an emphasis on reaching one or more of the following disproportionately impacted communities: Black/African American Indigenous/Native American Asian/Pacific Islander People of Color Latinx/Hispanic and Spanish speaking Immigrant and refugee LGBTQ+ People living at the intersection of these identities This program will d evelop and invest in a diverse suicide prevention/behavioral health workforce and increase access to culturally responsive services and interventions to prevent suicide. Services to Washington County residents provided through this RFP this project is being supported in whole or in part by federal award number SLFRP0228 awarded to Washington County by the U.S. Department of the Treasury. All contracts are contingent on the availability of funds, continued need for the service relative to other community needs, and contract performance and compliance. Funds available for contracting in any given year may also change due to State Legislative action, funding priorities, or other system changes and will be finalized during the annual contract renewal process.
