Description

Dual-Temperature Food Transport Cart 1. PURPOSE Tallahassee requires a heavy-duty dual-temperature food transport cart capable of maintaining both heated and refrigerated food products during institutional meal service operations. The unit shall be designed for correctional or high-volume institutional food service environments. 2. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS The contractor shall provide a new, commercial-grade dual-temperature transport cart meeting the following minimum salient characteristics and specifications. 3. CONSTRUCTION a. Exterior construction shall consist primarily of stainless steel. b. Exterior surfaces shall be minimum 18-gauge stainless steel construction. c. Base frame shall be minimum 16-gauge reinforced stainless steel with cross-channel support. d. All welds shall be ground and polished. e. Cart shall include reinforced corners and fittings suitable for institutional or correctional environments. f. Fasteners shall be tamper-resistant or security-type construction. 4. DIMENSIONS a. Approximate dimensions:  Height: 75 inches  Width: 57.5 to 58 inches  Depth: 29 inches b. Minor dimensional variances necessary for commercial manufacturing are acceptable provided operational capacity requirements are met. 5. CAPACITY a. Unit shall accommodate approximately:  120 segmented trays with shelving installed  Up to 168 segmented trays without shelves b. Unit shall include removable stainless steel shelving or rack assemblies. c. Shelving shall support institutional tray configurations. 6. HEATING AND REFRIGERATION a. Unit shall include an integrated refrigeration system. b. Unit shall include a removable or serviceable heated compartment assembly. c. Heating system shall maintain safe hot holding temperatures for institutional food service operations. d. Refrigeration system shall maintain safe cold holding temperatures for institutional food service operations. e. Unit shall include insulated compartment separation between heated and refrigerated zones. 7. ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS a. Unit shall operate on:  120 Volt electrical service  Approximately 1800 Watts  Approximately 15 Amps b. Unit shall include a heavy-duty power cord and cord management system. c. Plug configuration shall be compatible with NEMA 5-20P or equivalent. 8. COMPONENTS a. Doors:  Double-panel insulated doors  Heavy-duty hinges  Doors capable of opening approximately 270 degrees  Lockable transport latches  Magnetic closure devices or equivalent b. Temperature Controls:  Digital temperature controller and thermometer display  Protected or recessed control panel c. Handles:  Recessed push handles mounted on sides d. Insulation:  Fully insulated top, bottom, and sides  Minimum 1-inch high-density insulation e. Casters:  Six heavy-duty multi-terrain casters  Combination of swivel and rigid casters  Minimum 6-inch diameter  Braking capability on swivel casters f. Bumpers:  Full perimeter non-marking bumper protection 9. WARRANTY a. Contractor shall provide a minimum one-year manufacturer warranty covering parts and labor. 10. DELIVERY Delivery location and timeline shall be specified in the solicitation schedule.
