Cosumnes Ladder Fuel Reduction Project

The Sacramento County Department of Regional Parks invites your firm to submit a proposal to conduct fire fuel reduction activities in the Sloughhouse area of eastern Sacramento County , California . Regional Parks is implementing the Cosumnes Ladder Fuel Reduction Project with funding provided by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection’s Forest Health Program as part of the California Climate Investments Program. The P roject consists of mechanical and manual woody vegetation and ground fuels (i.e., downed wood) removal treatments between the northern boundary of the D eer Creek Hills Preserve (D CH ) and State Route (SR) 16 to the south in Sloughhouse, California. The treatment area s are located on privately owned lands, and land within the D CH , which is owned by the County of Sacramento, the Sacramento Valley Conservancy, and the California State Parks . The goal of the Project is to ensure the health and protection of the native oak woodlands and protection of lives and property in the area . This will be accomplished b y reducing ladder fuels across about 93 6 acres that enable a ground fire to transition to a crown fire, thereby creating embers that could be blown into the adjacent community and resulting in severe fire effects on the ecosystem .
