Santa Monica Groundwater Sustainability Plan Implementation

The Santa Monica Subbasin Groundwater Sustainability Plan (GSP) was developed in accordance with the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA), adopted by the Santa Monica Basin Groundwater Sustainability Agency (SMBGSA) on January 13, 2022, and submitted to the California Department of Water Resources (DWR) on January 27, 2022. While DWR reviews and evaluates the GSP, the SMBGSA will implement it, including filling data gaps, groundwater modeling support, seeking funding for projects to maintain the sustainable use of groundwater in the Santa Monica Subbasin (Subbasin), continuing stakeholder engagement efforts, and preparing annual reports documenting current groundwater conditions and implementation progress for review by DWR. The purpose of the scope of work is to provide technical, website, and public meeting support to the SMBGSA to support the ongoing proactive sustainable management of groundwater in the Subbasin.
