Contracted Paratransit Services

Ben Franklin Transit’s (BFT’s) mission is to provide exceptional and cost-effective transportation services that consistently exceed customer expectations, while promoting the principles and practices of livable communities and sustainable development. At the center of all BFT endeavors in service to the community is a set of core values that serve as constant guiding factors: customer satisfaction, collaboration, diversity, fiscal accountability, innovation, sustainability, and safety. BFT offers a variety of transportation services, including fixed route bus service, vanpools, demand response service and a door-to-door ADA Paratransit service known as Dial-A-Ride (DAR). BFT’s boundaries encompass six-hundred-sixteen (616) square miles known as the Public Transportation Benefit Area (PTBA) and serves an estimated population of three hundred thousand (300,000) in the metro area. DAR service is available throughout the same hours and days as fixed route service. Where trips on the fixed route bus service are provided at time intervals, DAR service is provided on approximately the same fixed route frequency as per ADA Circular 4710.1. Service hours are as follows: ⁃ Monday – Friday: 6:00 am – 10:00 pm ⁃ Saturday: 7:00 am – 10:00 pm ⁃ Sunday: 8:00 am – 6:30 pm
