Description
The City of Palo Alto is a charter city located in the San Francisco Bay Area in the heart of Silicon Valley. The City of Palo Alto Utilities (CPAU) is a department of the City government under the management of the Director of Utilities, who reports to the City Manager who reports to the City Council. CPAU provides electricity, natural gas, water, wastewater collection, and commercial dark fiber optic services to over 28,000 customers in the 26 square miles within its city limits. CPAU’s rates, policies and long-term plans are set by the City Council. CPAU is seeking electric utility engineering consulting services for a variety of capital improvement and maintenance projects in the fields of utility distribution and substation engineering, system protection, Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA), fiber optics, Closed Circuit Tele Vision (CCTV), streetlights, customer service requests, and Geographical Information System (GIS). For any project assigned, CPAU will use the services of experienced professionals who can work independently, perform field audits, and deliver engineering packages that include detailed engineering designs/schematics/wiring diagrams, provide engineering calculations and/or analysis, before and after constructions drawings, bill of materials, and cost estimates. CPAU makes no guarantee as to the amount of work to be requested under any resultant professional services agreement. The initial one-year contract term may be extended for up to two more years based on department workload and satisfactory performance.
