San Mateo County Fire Department Analysis of Fire Protection Service Delivery Model and Alternative Approaches.

The County of San Mateo’s objective in issuing this solicitation is to identify and retain a qualified consultant to review, analyze, and provide recommendations on the current structure, organization, coverage, and costs of the San Mateo County Fire Department (SMCFD) fire protection services, which are staffed via CAL FIRE as compared to alternative approaches. The purpose is to determine if realistic alternative methods exist to provide those services with increased cost efficiency, increased operational efficiency, and improved service to the community. As further detailed herein, the selected proposer will analyze and compare the costs and benefits of continuing the County’s arrangement with CAL FIRE to staff the SMCFD compared to alternatives including the County staffing the SMCFD.
