C. D. McIntosh Byproduct Storage Area Closure

The primary objective of this project is to complete the physical closure in place of the onsite South CCR (Coal Combustion Residue) landfill, also known as the Byproduct Storage Area (BSA) and installing a final cover system in accordance with Rule 62-701.805(8), F.A.C. Disposal of CCR in landfills and closure of these units are regulated by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Rule for Disposal of Coal Combustion Residuals from Electric Utilities, 40 CFR 257 (known as the Final CCR Rule). In accordance with this, Lakeland Electric has received a Closure Design for the South BSA designed by Geosyntec Consultants, Inc. The design calls for regrading of the CCR and installing a final cover (or cap) system that includes barrier and infiltration control layers, as stormwater runoff collection system and a passive gas removal system. Lakeland Electric is seeking a qualified CONTRACTOR to perform this closure.
