Heritage Oaks Park Design

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE The City of West Sacramento is soliciting proposals from qualified firms or individuals ("Proposer") to provide park construction documents that reflect the concept and themes of the recently completed Heritage Oaks Park Master Plan. The Project consists of approximately 9 acres of parkland for the community park site located at 1300 Lake Washington Boulevard in West Sacramento. The Heritage Oaks Park site was accepted by the City over 4 years ago. Due to limited funding and an interest to bring a unique recreation experience to West Sacramento, the City entered into a Concessionaire Agreement with Kletterwald USA to construct an elevated ropes challenge course, as well as a shaded play area, parking lot and concession/public restroom building for public use. Additionally, street frontage irrigation and landscape designs have been completed and is currently being bid for construction. As part of multiple grant application efforts, the City completed the initial Heritage Oaks Park Master Plan, which included a robust community engagement effort. The result is a Master Plan that celebrates the grove of Heritage Oak trees, builds off the unique recreation experiences already being offered and strives to create a space that offers numerous education, recreation, social opportunities. Grant funding in the amount of $3 million was recently awarded for the Project through the Land and Water Conservation Fund. Based on the grant performance period and other improvements nearing completion, the balance of the site needs to be designed in order to ensure the Master Plan can be refined and constructed in a timely manner. The design effort for the park site will include a strong emphasis on nature-themed amenities, sustainability and cultural resources. The Project consists of completing all construction documents to position the project to be constructed as soon as possible. More details on the City's needs for this work are provided in the Scope of Work . Each qualified Proposer is to submit a proposal in conformity with the terms of this Request for Proposal ("RFP") by the deadline below ("Proposal"). The Proposer selected by the City pursuant to the terms of this RFP and the City's contracting procedures, if any is selected, is referred to herein as "Contractor."
