Description
The Jersey City Public School District is soliciting proposals from qualified consultants including educational service commission or a New Jersey Department of Education approved clinic or agency to support student development of the nonpublic Elementary and Middle School students by providing Chapter 192 Services in the areas of Math and Language Arts) to all eligible students grades K-8 enrolled full-time in nonpublic secondary schools within the school district boundaries using New Jersey Certified Math and Language Arts (English) teachers . In keeping with N.J.S.A. 18A:46A-1, et seq. (Chapter 192, Laws of 1977), Chapter 192 programs are provided to eligible grade K-12 students enrolled full-time in nonpublic elementary and secondary schools. Contracts will be awarded in accordance with N.J.S.A. 18A:18A-5a (1). Chapter 192 services must be performed by teachers licensed in the State of New Jersey holding the appropriate New Jersey teaching certificate(s) for the specific educational services provided. The Jersey City Public School District under N.J.S.A. 18A:46A-1, et seq. (Chapter 192, Laws of 1977) has the responsibility of providing Compensatory Education, to eligible nonpublic school students in grades K-12 who are enrolled full-time in nonpublic schools. Funds are allocated by the State Department of Education based upon the services reported by the Jersey City School District in the “Report of Nonpublic Auxiliary and Handicapped Services.” After consultation with administration from the nonpublic schools, it was determined that Chapter 192 Services be provided in sectarian schools in accordance with N.J.S.A. 18A:46A-5and 46-19.5; and/or in religious nonpublic schools with appropriate educational space, current certificate of occupancy and fire inspection certificates; and /or by utilizing trailer or mobile unit placed on nonpublic school property. Chapter 192 programs and the cited regulations are offered below to provide guidance in the formulation of the provider’s individual proposals.
