Public Safety Psychologist

The Village of Schaumburg, IL will accept Qualifications via the Village's e-Procurement Portal, OpenGov ( https://procurement.opengov.com/portal/villageofschaumburg ) for 'Project ID , 'Project Title to be received no later than 'Proposal Submission Date , 'Proposal Submission Time . Qualifications submitted after the specified time will not be accepted. The purpose of this project is to establish a comprehensive Public Safety Wellness program within the Village of Schaumburg. The contracted Public Safety Psychologist will work alongside staff and be responsible for the management, coordination and programming offered within the overall wellness program. The Public Safety Psychologist will work in conjunction with the Wellness Coordinator to handle varying administrative, operational and logistical needs as well as help guide, direct and lead the initiative to include a comprehensive wellness program and establishment of a formal Peer Support and Critical Incident Stress Debriefing Team. Preference for this position will be given to candidates with a therapeutic background in serving and treating public safety and law enforcement professionals. The Public Safety Psychologist will be expected to heavily integrate among officers and public safety personnel. This shall include ride-alongs, roll-call training and attendance, conducting training classes, individualized coaching/therapy sessions, participation within critical incident debrief and creative strategies to form personal connections to better understand the individual and wellness needs of the agency. The selected provider must further be able to provide (if requested by the officer) individualized or family treatment services which accept village health insurance (Blue Cross / Blue Shield of Illinois) It is anticipated for the Public Safety Psychologist to spend 1-2 days per week, approximately 4-6 hours per day focused within the position. Given the extreme schedule variation involved within public safety, the public safety Psychologist should plan on varying hours and days so as to work with personnel that cover all working police department shifts. Specific days per week or hours allocated for the week will vary based on program design and development. Flexibility must be available given the nature of public safety and unpredictability as to critical incidents or related wellness needs.
