Hornsby Bend Ammonia Removal Facility And Drainage Imp.
City of Austin
Description
The anaerobic digestion process to treat wastewater sludge produces a side stream with high ammonia and nitrogen concentrations. This side stream flow is from the Dewatering Facility which currently discharges directly to the on-site pond system. To treat this high strength ammonia and to meet environmental regulatory requirements a new on-site Ammonia Removal Facility is required. It is projected that this facility will significantly reduce the high ammonia load by 80 to 90%. Improve existing drainage and storm water management systems at Hornsby Bend Biosolids Management Plant. These drainage improvements are required to provide positive drainage for the proposed (future) Ammonia Removal Facility (3164.125). CIP 3164.125 and 3164.094 are being permitted and bid together as one project.
