SB 1383 Procurement Target for Recovered Organic Waste Products

The City of Moreno Valley is soliciting proposals from contractors to support its annual procurement target for Recovered Organic Waste Products. The selected contractor will be required to detail their approach for assisting the City in meeting its annual procurement goals and provide pricing for services for up to five years. These services will encompass the procurement of compost to meet the City’s procurement goal of 16,572 tons of Recovered Organic Waste Products. Please note that per AB 1985, the City will only need to procure 65% of the 16,572 tons of Recovered Organic Waste Product, which would be 10,772 tons. The City is seeking a qualified vendor to fulfill this target using compost. Per CalRecycle SB 1383 Procurement of Recovered Organic Waste Products Calculator Tool, .58 tons of compost is equal to 1 ton of Organic Waste. Thus, the adjusted totals are as follows: 2024 – 6,248 tons of compost, 2025 and beyond – 9,612 tons of compost. This solicitation is part of the City’s effort to comply with the Recovered Organic Waste Products Procurement requirements outlined in SB 1383. The City’s Sustainability Division, within the Financial and Management Services Department, seeks qualified vendors to provide compost procurement and record keeping. The successful respondent will be responsible for providing all necessary reporting to ensure full compliance with applicable state laws and CalRecycle requirements.
