Citywide Guardrails Upgrade Project (Re-Bid)
City of Benicia / Public Works
Description
The project generally consists of replacing existing guardrail, barricades and appurtenances with new materials and products which will meet new safety standards, shoulder rehabilitation, minor concrete, and striping and pavement markings. The project will be governed by the Contract Documents included herewith, including the Caltrans State Standard Specifications, 2018 edition, in the order of precedence as set forth herein. The City of Benicia previously invited Bids for the Guardrails Upgrade Project in May 2023. At that time, the apparent low bid exceeded the authorized funds for the project and all bids were rejected. This Invitation to Bid is for a Base Bid with 3 Bid Alternatives. Technical changes have also been made to the project. A revised street barricade detail in included. Reduced quantities for replacement of guardrails and minor concrete occurred at a few locations. Valtir’s Soft Stop System has replaced the Trinity Soft Stop system for guardrail end terminals.
