Who qualifies. Small businesses at least 51% owned and controlled by U.S. citizens who are socially and economically disadvantaged, and certified by the SBA into the 8(a) program.

How to bid. Apply for 8(a) certification at certify.SBA.gov, then keep an active SAM.gov registration so agencies can award you set-aside and sole-source 8(a) work.

Who qualifies for the 8(a) program?

Small businesses majority-owned by socially and economically disadvantaged U.S. citizens, once certified by the SBA. The program term is nine years.

Yes — agencies can award sole-source 8(a) contracts up to a dollar threshold, in addition to competitive 8(a) set-asides.
