SCRRF Appliance Recycler Services

The City of Santa Cruz owns and operates a Resource Recovery Facility (RRF) located at 605 Dimeo Lane, Santa Cruz, CA 95060. The RRF collects discarded major appliances such as refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines, furnaces, microwaves, etc. Harmful substances such as mercury, coolant, etc. must be removed from an appliance prior to the appliance being crushed, baled, shredded, disposed of, or otherwise processed in a way that could result in the release or prevent the removal of these substances. The State requires that the removal of these harmful substances must be handled by person or businesses certified by the Department of Toxic Substance Control. The services to be performed consists of furnishing all labor, materials, tools, equipment, permits and transportation required to complete the Project, with a scope of work to generally include, but is not limited to, the following: The City is seeking a 1-year contract with 5 annual renewal options from Certified Appliance Recycler to properly remove material that require special handling from discarded major appliances and (the “Work”) at the RRF.
