Park Planning and Landscape Architecture On-Call Services

The City of Chesapeake, through its Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department (hereinafter “PRT”) is seeking qualifications, excluding costs, from qualified park and open space planning and multi-disciplinary firms with experience in park and open space planning, landscape architecture, public engagement, park master planning, and detailed park design and documentation to support the PRT’s planning, design, and construction of various park development, improvement and enhancement projects throughout the City’s park system on a project-to-project or ‘on-call’ basis. Selected firm(s) can expect to be utilized to plan, design, and document park improvement projects within neighborhood, community, special use, and regional parks citywide. Tasks will include but are not limited to establishing design specifications for the procurement, development and renovation of park grounds, playgrounds, pathways, trails, trailheads, campgrounds, pedestrian and equestrian bridges, welcome centers, informational and interpretive signage, shoreline and drainage enhancements, recreational amenities, landscaping and urban forestry, public art, historical preservation and refurbishment, athletic fields and courts, restroom and concession facilities, maintenance facilities, parking facilities, park and service road accessways, electrical and plumbing systems, utility systems, well and septic systems, and various other park-type amenities.
