Vendor needs to provide public defender services to the government authority located in Taos, NM. – Provide professional public defender services for eligible indigent defendants appearing before the agency municipal court. – The selected offerors shall provide competent, timely, independent, and professional legal representation to defendants who have been determined eligible for court–appointed counsel.– Legal representation:– Represent assigned defendants throughout municipal court proceedings, including arraignments, pretrial conferences, hearings, motions, trials, sentencing, and other proceedings requiring representation.– Client consultation: meet and communicate with assigned clients as necessary to review charges, evidence, potential defense, plea options, and other matters necessary to provide effective representation.– Case preparation and management: review discovery and evidence, conduct necessary legal research, prepare motions and other filings, investigate cases as appropriate, maintain confidential case files, and monitor all court dates and deadlines.– Court appearances and availability: attend all required municipal court proceedings and maintain sufficient availability to accommodate the court's regular docket and reasonably scheduled hearings or trials.– Case assignment: coordinate with the municipal court regarding case assignments and eligibility for public defender services.
