REQUEST FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST (CONSULTING SERVICES – INDIVIDUAL SELECTION) [KENYA] Project Name : Accelerating Innovation and Catalyzing Capacity for Resilience in Africa (AICCRA-FSRP IV) ( P515128) Grant No .: E6520-3A Assignment Title: Environmental and Social Specialist Reference No: KE-ICIPE-563205-CS-INDV 1. The International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology ( icipe ) has received financing from the World Bank towards the Accelerating Innovation and Catalyzing Capacity for Resilience in Africa (AICCRA-FSRP IV) Project and intends to apply part of the proceeds for consulting services. 2. The consulting services (“the Services”) include the Environmental and Social Specialist assignment. This Consultant shall work for an initial period of Twenty-four (24) calendar months from contract commencement date, but the period is subject to extension based on AICCRA-FSRP IV Project needs, funds availability, and satisfactory performance. The objective of the assignment is for the Environmental and Social Specialist to provide environmental and social safeguards support to the AICCRA-FSRP IV Project. This is intended to strengthen the Project Implementation Unit's capacity to ensure effective environmental and social due diligence, compliance with the World Bank Environmental and Social Framework (ESF) and applicable national environmental and social regulations, thereby supporting the successful implementation of project activities in accordance with project objectives and donor requirements. 3. The International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology now invites eligible individual consultants (“Consultants”) to indicate their interest in providing the Services. Interested Consultants must provide information demonstrating that they have the required qualifications and relevant experience to perform the Services. (cover/application letter summarizing the relevant experience and indicating its relevance to the assignment, detailed curriculum vitae (CV), copies of documentary evidence of academic qualifications, experience, professional qualifications). The shortlisting criteria are: 4.1 A minimum of a master’s degree in Environmental Sciences, Natural Resources Management, Social Sciences, or a closely related discipline from a recognised institution. A PhD in a related field is an added advantage. 4.2 Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in E&S Management and due diligence in similar projects in the Agricultural (or related) sector. 4.3 Demonstrated familiarity with the World Bank Environmental and Social Framework (ESF) and experience with its implementation, or with World Bank safeguard policies and procedures. Experience in similar projects in the Agricultural sector is an added advantage 4.4 Proven ability to prepare, implement, and monitor E&S instruments in the Agriculture or related sectors. 4.5 Experience supporting stakeholder engagement and grievance mechanism operations in similar development projects. 4.6 Strong skills in data collection, monitoring, and reporting for E&S performance. 4.7 Demonstrated experience in program coordination, office administration, and logistical management in an international development or research organization setting. 4.8 Experience working on multi-country or multi-stakeholder projects and with international development partners is an advantage. 4.9 Relevant professional certifications in environmental and/or social safeguards is an asset 5.
