Rolling Hills Wedgewood Area - Design Services

Escambia County Stormwater Management Division is seeking the design services for the installation of a new storm water infrastructure including new pipes ditches, ponds, and recreational infrastructure in the Wedgewood Rolling Hills area. The project will expand existing pond capacity, create new areas for retention / detention, improve convivence systems to alleviate pond overtopping, reduce the risk of structure flooding provide recreational facilities for a low to moderate income area. The project will improve stormwater conveyance to existing ponds, improve outfall capacity under Rolling Hills Road and provide positive drainage throughout the existing roads and rights-of-way allowing failing roads to be reconstructed. The current project concept captures stormwater runoff from 198 acres of existing residential neighborhoods, of which approximately 50 acres is currently discharged into the Marcus Creek east branch headwaters without treatment. This portion of Marcus Creek is not currently meeting state surface water quality standards do to routine low dissolved oxygen. The current project concept also provides a positive outfall for existing county stormwater facilities including Capitol Boulevard Pond, Wedgewood Community Center Pond, and Rolling Hills Road at Bedgood Lane Pond. The current project concept additionally reduces the frequency and severity of roadway flooding and will improve the culverted road crossing on Rolling Hills Road north of Kyle Drive and drainage on the south end of Rolling Hills Road to prevent roadway failure during future storm events. Stormwater design will incorporate low impact design alternatives.
