Beaufort County Detention Center Gymnasium Conversion Project

Beaufort County hereby solicits sealed bids from qualified and licensed contractors for the renovation and conversion of an existing gymnasium/common area located within the Beaufort County Detention Center into a dormitory-style inmate housing unit. The work generally consists of the renovation of an existing multipurpose space into a secure detention housing area with associated support facilities, including the construction of a new inmate shower room and related architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and security improvements necessary for operational use. The purpose of the project is to provide additional inmate housing capacity to address overcrowding and inmate overflow conditions, while also establishing a designated housing area capable of supporting medical isolation and quarantine operations.
