Gemeente Westland heeft binnen de gemeentegrenzen de verantwoording voor het plaatsen c.q. onderhouden van hekwerken rondom bijvoorbeeld sportparken, speelplaatsen en perkjes. Deze opsomming is niet volledig, maar omvat 90% van de omvang van de werkzaamheden: voetbalkooien, ballenvangers, hekwerken (dubbelstaafmat) van diverse hoogte: minimaal 0,80 meter tot 2,40 meter, aanleunhekken (minimale wanddikte 2 mm voor de leggers), voethekken, kniehekjes (rondom plantsoenen)
