General work description: The intent of this solicitation is to establish a cooperative contract for an ability measure, to not only be used as a universal screener for gifted and talented education identification, but also to be used as a data source to inform next steps in grouping and instructional delivery for all students. Data from this ability measure will be used by schools to address the needs of students with different learning strengths and weaknesses, enable teachers to involve parents in their children’s education, and improve classroom practice and student learning by allowing teachers to leverage specific data to inform instructional support for all students. The need for an ability measure stems from the COMAR 13A.04.07 mandate to utilize an ability measure during the identification process of students with gifts and talents. As such, the benefits of having an ability measure span all FCPS students, adding to a data profile that is inclusive of measures of ability, performance and potential. It will allow school staff to: Determine the verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal strengths and weaknesses of students Talent spot for advanced-level services and coursework Design whole and small group instruction that addresses students’ unique needs.
