Description
The project is known as the Houghton Road 24-inch I-Zone Transmission Extension, I-10 to Vail Reservoir Site as shown on the Drawings (PN 1-014-2023). The project is located within existing Right-of-Way of Houghton Road and Old Vail Connection owned by the City of Tucson (COT) and Pima County, existing Right-of-Way owned by the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), existing Right-of-Way owned by the Arizona State Land Department (ASLD), existing parcel owned by the Union Pacific Rail Road (UPRR), and new Water Easements across parcels owned by Unisource, Pima County, and Luminex LLC in Pima County, Arizona. The Work includes the following: 1. Installation of approximately 13,636 linear feet of new 24-inch ductile iron pipe (DIP) with connection to an existing 24-inch DI transmission main from the South Houghton 24” Transmission Main (PN 5-040-2021) including all valves, fittings, corrosion protection system, and other appurtenances. The main will terminate at the Vail Reservoir Site for future connection to improvements currently under development as that site. 2. Installation of approximately 6,535 linear feet of new 36-inch ductile iron pipe (DIP) parallel to the new 24” main from the intersection of Houghton Road and Old Vail Connection to the same point of termination at the Vail Reservoir Site. Work includes all valves, fittings, corrosion protection system, and other appurtenances. 3. Installation of approximately 663 linear feet of new 42-inch welded steel casing pipe with 0.625-inch thickness beneath the Interstate Freeway I-10 (ADOT). 4. Installation of approximately 305 linear feet of new 42-inch welded steel casing pipe with 0.625-inch thickness beneath the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR). 5. Installation of approximately 304 linear feet of new 60-inch welded steel casing pipe with 0.750-inch thickness beneath the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR). 6. Installation of approximately 6,730 linear feet of new 4-inch Schedule 40 polyvinyl chloride (PVC) Fiber Optic communications conduit. Work includes installation of all conduit, bends, fittings, communication pull boxes and vaults, drainage rock, and all other appurtenances. 7. Installation of roadway improvements along Old Vail Connection Road from South Houghton Road approximately 2,467 feet to the east . Work includes demolition and removal of existing AC pavement, installation and grading of new ABC subgrade, installation of new AC pavement, and all other appurtenant items.
