Description
The Rape Prevention and Education (RPE) Program is a federal initiative by the CDC aimed at preventing sexual violence. It provides funding to our agency to implement and evaluate sexual violence primary prevention strategies. The program focuses on primary prevention, which includes stopping violence before it occurs, reducing risk factors, and enhancing protective factors. RPE encourages the development of comprehensive prevention strategies using a public health approach and the social-ecological model. The program is authorized through the Violence Against Women Act and aims to reduce disparities in sexual violence by addressing inequities in social and structural determinants of health.
