Transit Bus Tire Rental

The City of Santa Monica, Department of Transportation (SMDOT) is soliciting bids from companies to provide lease and service for its heavy-duty bus tires. The City operates seven days per week accumulating approximately 5 million miles collectively per year. The current fleet consists of natural gas powered and battery electric transit buses that have Michelin tires. In general, the scope shall be assumed “turnkey”, such that the responsibility is assumed within the scope of the vendor’s services to be performed, unless specifically specified to be an SMDOT responsibility. It is our intent to form an agreement with a vendor capable of providing radial transit tires specifically designed for transit application. The agreement shall also include providing two (2) employees to perform the following services, mounting and remounting tires, balancing, and maintaining tire inventory.
