Arkema Interim Action-Phase 1 2026

The Work required for this Project includes: Containment Wall: the work consists of constructing a continuous wall with a self-hardening slurry that consists of a mixture of ground granulated blast furnace slag, select clay and water to form a low permeability barrier to contain groundwater. The wall shall be keyed into the second site aquitard by vibrating beam methods. Site Preparation and Wall Area Capping: the existing site will require preparation, excavation, fill, grading, demolition, surcharge, and temporary work prior to containment wall installation. An impervious cap consisting of imported soil, geotextile and a PVC liner will be placed over the wall area following wall installation to reduce stormwater infiltration within the containment wall. Stormwater Conveyance Improvements: one new 30-inch outfall and one existing 36-inch outfall will be modified as part of the Work. Outfall construction and modification include piping, vaults, headwalls, steel piling installation, check valves and cofferdams. A collection and conveyance system will be installed to connect the wall cap area to new and existing outfalls.
