EXTRA-77767 - USA (Skagway, Alaska) - Avalanche Forecasting and Hazard Reduction Services - Deadline October 29,2026

(1) Vendor needs to provide avalanche forecasting and hazard reduction services to the government authority located in Skagway, AK.• The Contractor will perform the following tasks:1. Assess daily the avalanche hazard to the Klondike Highway, produce a forecast for agency operations using the approved agency hazard scale, and recommend course of action appropriate for level of hazard. Record the forecast on approved agency data management system. 2. Document daily weather observations using the agency approved data managementsystem and continuously monitor weather for potential acts on snow stability and resulting changes to avalanche hazard.3. Observe, record, and analyse avalanche activity on the agency corridor(approximately mile post 6 to 14) using the agency approved data management system.4. Periodically dig snow pits, perform snow stability tests, and track snowpack metamorphism in representative areas for the avalanche starting zones for agency.5. Recommend methods of avalanche hazard reduction required and coordinate road closure and personnel logistics with station foreman, supervisors, and other agencies as needed.(2) The contract period will be for one year.
