The Buena Vista Landfill is an active landfill and located in the southern coastal area of the County and the Ben Lomond Landfill is a closed landfill located in the Santa Cruz Mountains in the northern area of the County. Both landfill are equipped with landfill gas systems which include gas extraction wells, perimeter monitoring probes and flares. The Buena Vista Landfill receives about 300 tons of refuse per day and delivers most of the landfill gas it generates to a co-gen facility located on-site.</p>",
