Villa Substation Oil Containment

Description
The project provides for the construction of an oil containment system in Villa Substation that will prevent any mineral oil spills from transformers and electrical equipment from affecting the environment. Federal Environmental Protection Agency regulations require that potentially large oil spills be contained within the immediate area. The Villa Substation was constructed in 1978 and prior to these federal regulations. The project will bring the substation up to code to comply with Title 40 (Protection of Environment), Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Part 112 (Oil Pollution Prevention). The construction work includes sawcutting and removal of existing concrete pad; excavation, backfill, soil compaction, testing and shoring where required; installation of reinforced concrete pipe, reinforced concrete trench with grates, and reinforced concrete structures; hauling, providing safety devices, demolition, etc.; and cleanup and miscellaneous appurtenant work.
