Neighborhood Coyote Assessment Report

Description
The objective of this scope of work is to complete a professional assessment of coyote behavior for up to four neighborhoods to identify actions community members and the city can take to address community coyote concerns. PPHD staff will evaluate community complaint data to identify "coyote hotspots" in neighborhoods with up to 30 residential or commercial parcels. Once a neighborhood has been selected for assessment, the vendor will be expected to: conduct a field study observing the neighborhood and documenting coyote behavior; and produce a report documenting the findings of a field study including, at a minimum, an assessment of: the neighborhood coyote population; summary of observed coyote behavior; identification neighborhood food sources and other attractants; and recommend actions to reduce the possibility of human-coyote conflict. The desired deliverable will be a Neighborhood Coyote Assessment Report designed to guide the development of human-coyote mitigation strategies accompanied by recommended actions to be taken by the City and community members in the identified neighborhood. Any appropriate methods for achieving the stated objective and desired deliverables are acceptable but must be described in the proposal including methods for performing expected services such as: Identification and assessment of patterns of coyote behavior in the specified neighborhood(s); Review of neighborhood conditions to identify potential coyote attractants; Apply Pasadena Urban Wildlife Management Coyote Behavior Classification to assess observed coyote behavior and determine what, if any, public safety concerns and threats are posed by coyotes to humans in the identified neighborhood; Proposed communication strategies for engaging community members on matters such as data trends, community education for keeping coyotes wild, and reporting coyote attractants to appropriate city or other services; Engaging additional stakeholders to identify common concerns, collect observations of coyote behavior, and evaluate effectiveness of current stakeholder efforts to keep coyotes wild. Engage all appropriate community members within the specified neighborhood such as: City staff Pasadena Humane Residents Business owners
