CLINICAL SUPERVISION FOR DSS
City of Charlottesville / Social Services
Description
Clinical supervision hours are required to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Having LCSW’s on staff is important to the Department of Social Services because these staff members have specialized training in areas such as mental health, substance abuse, family therapy, etc. LCSW’s are able to apply these specialized skills and knowledge to the more complex and difficult cases. The LCSW candidate works very closely with the Clinical Supervisor and shares personal information, so it is important that they have a good rapport and working relationship. The City tries to have several Clinical Supervision Providers on contract in order to give Social Services staff options. Also, many of the current providers who provide clinical supervision also work with DSS clients. The City’s Social Services Department has an internal policy that staff cannot receive clinical supervision services from a provider if they have any clients in common. Due to the reasons stated above; the City reserves the right to make multiple awards as a result of this solicitation.
