The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) is among the largest water and wastewater utilities in the United States, serving a diverse customer base across Maryland. Established in 1918, WSSC has a long-standing history of delivering safe, reliable water and wastewater services to residents and businesses. WSSC operates one of the most complex water systems in the region, managing a network that includes approximately: 5,900 miles of water pipelines and 5,900 miles of sewer pipelines. Three reservoirs, two water filtration plants, and six wastewater treatment plants. 13,000 large/commercial meters, 490,000 small/residential meters Serving over 1.9 million customers in Prince George’s and Montgomery Counties. 503,000 meters to be replaced and converted. 67% of meters are inside customer properties Existing billing system is Oracle Customer to Meter (C2M) 470,000 meters are read quarterly via Touch-Read. Coverage Area: WSSC’s service area spans approximately 1,000 square miles, encompassing urban, suburban, and rural regions.
