Rivers End Drainage Improvements

Rivers End is a 40-acre residential community located in Beaufort County near Okatie, South Carolina that is comprised of single-family, detached homes. The stormwater system includes ditches, two layers of pipes, and two wet ponds and discharges to the Okatie River watershed, a designated TMDL watershed impaired for fecal coliform. The County owns and maintains the roads and rights-of-way in this community and has identified it as a viable location for water quality best management practice (BMP) implementation. Beaufort County is dedicated to improving the water quality within this impaired watershed while repairing the failing double-layered system. The goals of this project include:  Replace lower HDPE system with RCP  Install bioswales along Rivers End Drive  Install an in-pipe manufactured treatment device (unsubmerged) targeted to remove bacteria  Perform necessary maintenance of existing system Design plans are attached for reference.
