2023-2024 CALL FOR CULTURAL/ENTERTAINMENT EVENT PROPOSALS FOR THE 1550 BEACH PARKING LOT

Call for Proposals The City of Santa Monica, is inviting proposals from qualified persons or firms interested in producing extended cultural/entertainment events to be held in the 1550 Beach Parking lot during the 2023-24. Event Season (September 2023 through May 2024) with the opportunity for the same event to return during the 2024-25 Event Season (September 2024 through May 2025). This option to return during the 2024-25 Event Season to be exercised at the City’s sole discretion. This call for proposals is for unique large-scale events that extend beyond the three-day maximum formerly permitted under the City’s Community Event Ordinance. The event forum for one to three-day events has been closed in the 1550 Beach Lot and these types of events are no longer permitted. The only events that may be considered are extended large-scale entertainment or cultural events that offer a unique opportunity to the public. Events that have as a principal component, merchandise sales or exhibits, business promotions, or product or service launches/sampling will not be considered. 1550 Beach Parking Lot Cultural/Entertainment Event Guidelines The City of Santa Monica is seeking to enter into license agreement(s) for the use of the 1550 Beach Parking Lot for cultural/entertainment events in accordance with the 1550 Beach Parking Lot Cultural/Entertainment Event Policy Guidelines. Cultural/entertainment events may be permitted after Labor Day weekend and prior to Memorial Day. However, due to the large number of visitors to the Pier and beach during the fall and spring, the preferred window for events is generally the months of January, February and March. The maximum duration for timed events is five months (or up to seven months for exhibit-style events) including load in and load out. The minimum duration is four days including load in and load out.
