The City of Benson is undertaking a comprehensive rate study to evaluate and update its utility rates for water, wastewater, and natural gas services. The primary goal of this project is to ensure that utility rates are fair, equitable, and sufficient to cover the city’s operational, maintenance, and capital improvement needs over the next several years. The study will analyze historical and projected usage data, classify customer groups based on their service demands, and allocate costs according to industry standards. Vendor participating in this project will help develop alternative rate structures, assess their financial impacts, and recommend solutions that promote cost recovery, conservation, and regulatory compliance.
