ITB #170210 - Flameproofing curtains and fabric

We are currently accepting bids for Cleaning and flame retarding of stage curtains and miscellaneous material in our facilities. The attachment will list the names of the buildings along with the indication of the drapes to be cleaned and flame retarded. The list also includes miscellaneous items and approximate square footage. All work is to be done after school hours. Scope of work All drapery track hardware shall be cleaned and lubricated. Replace missing grommet hooks. Pre-spot all stains. All curtains are to be cleaned on both sides. All surface dust is to be removed using industrial extractor. After removal of surface dust, curtains are to be misted with a nontoxic drapery cleaner and re-extracted. Apply flame retardant in strict accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions Flame retardant shall be non-toxic Flame retardant shall meet or exceed NFPA and ASTM standards for Class A fire retardant. Flame retardant shall be durable and withstand periodic vacuuming without a loss of fire protection. Flame retardant should be odorless and colorless. Treatment shall not damage the appearance of the item. Treatment shall not negatively the structural integrity of the treated item. Provide written certification that items treated have been rendered flame resistant. Flame resistant is defined as being able to pass NFPA 701. Certificate must guarantee application for a minimum of 5 years from the date of treatment. All work must be completed by December 2027 All work at the buildings must be completed after school hours as not to interrupt the school learning environment. Affix a tag to each item treated. Tag must indicate chemical used, treatment date and certificate number. Contractor is subject to a contractor review which includes but not limited to the following list; Cleanliness of job site.
