PROJECT OVERVIEW</p><p>This requisition is for the installation of a complete HVAC system within the drywell structure at the 27th &amp; Chase facility. The work includes mechanical, electrical, structural, and controls integration in a high-risk, gas-prone wastewater environment.</p><p>All work shall comply with OSHA, IDEM, NEC, and applicable local/state codes, including hazardous location requirements.</p><p>2. SCOPE OF WORK<br>A. HVAC EQUIPMENT INSTALLATION</p><p>Install (1) 5-ton air handler unit with electric heat kit (equipment provided by Gary Sanitary District)</p><p>Install (1) 5-ton condenser unit (provided by Gary Sanitary District)</p><p>Full system integration and operational setup</p><p>B. ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION</p><p>Install dedicated 50-amp circuit for air handler heat kit</p><p>Install 30-amp electrical service for condenser unit (120/24/240 VAC)</p><p>Provide and install:</p><p>Electrical disconnects</p><p>Breakers</p><p>Safety shutoffs</p><p>Control transformers and wiring</p><p>All electrical components shall be:</p><p>Explosion-proof / hazardous-location rated (NEMA compliant)</p><p>Suitable for environments containing:</p><p>Hydrogen Sulfide (H₂S)</p><p>Oxygen-enriched atmospheres</p><p>Lower Explosive Limit (LEL) gases</p><p>Carbon Monoxide (CO)</p><p>C. MECHANICAL &amp; REFRIGERATION WORK</p><p>Install refrigerant line set, including:</p><p>Proper sizing</p><p>Insulation</p><p>Protection and routing</p><p>Install condensate drain system, including:</p><p>Proper slope</p><p>Corrosion-resistant piping</p><p>Safe discharge routing</p><p>D. CONTROLS &amp; THERMOSTAT</p><p>Install Wi-Fi-enabled thermostat (provided by Gary Sanitary District)</p><p>Complete:</p><p>Low-voltage wiring</p><p>Control integration</p><p>System programming and commissioning</p><p>E. FRESH AIR INTAKE SYSTEM</p><p>Install dedicated fresh air intake:</p><p>Routed to exterior</p><p>Properly sealed and protected</p><p>Designed to prevent gas infiltration</p><p>F. STRUCTURAL &amp; INSTALLATION COMPONENTS</p><p>Equipment mounting and installation including:</p><p>Bracketing</p><p>Anchoring systems</p><p>Vibration isolation</p><p>Perform masonry penetrations as required</p><p>Seal and reinforce all penetrations per code</p><p>G. ROOF &amp; DEMOLITION WORK</p><p>Remove (2) existing RTU units</p><p>Close and seal existing roof curb openings:</p><p>Weatherproofing</p><p>Structural integrity restoration</p><p>H. STARTUP &amp; COMMISSIONING</p><p>Complete full system startup and testing</p><p>Verify:</p><p>Cooling performance</p><p>Electrical operation</p><p>Control functionality</p><p>Provide commissioning documentation</p><p>3. ENVIRONMENTAL &amp; SAFETY REQUIREMENTS</p><p>This project is located in a classified hazardous wastewater environment, including drywell and wet well areas.</p><p>A. HAZARDOUS LOCATION REQUIREMENTS</p><p>All equipment and electrical components must meet:</p><p>Explosion-proof standards</p><p>NEMA-rated enclosures for hazardous gases</p><p>Contractor must verify classification requirements before installation</p><p>B. OSHA COMPLIANCE</p><p>Confined space entry procedures required</p><p>Continuous gas monitoring (H₂S, LEL, O₂, CO)</p><p>Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) required</p><p>PPE for hazardous atmospheres mandatory</p><p>C. IDEM REQUIREMENTS</p><p>All work within drywell and wet well environments must comply with:</p><p>Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) standards</p><p>Contractor must ensure:</p><p>No contamination of wastewater systems</p><p>Proper handling of condensate and drainage</p><p>Protection of process integrity</p><p>4. CONTRACTOR RESPONSIBILITIES</p><p>Provide all labor, supervision, tools, and incidental materials</p><p>Coordinate with Gary Sanitary District personnel</p><p>Maintain site safety and compliance at all times</p><p>Protect all existing infrastructure and systems</p><p>Remove debris and maintain clean worksite</p><p>5. SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS (CRITICAL)</p><p>This is a high-gas, volatile environment&mdash;failure to use proper rated equipment will result in rejection</p><p>System must be designed to prevent ignition sources</p><p>Downtime and disruption to operations must be minimized</p><p>All penetrations and installations must maintain gas-tight integrity</p><p>6. DELIVERABLES</p><p>Fully installed and operational HVAC system</p><p>Electrical and control system integration</p><p>Startup and commissioning report</p><p>As-built documentation (if required)</p>",
