Three (3) High Speed Cameras, Frame Grabber, Davis Software Update
University of Alberta
Description
The University department submitted a competitive bid exemption for the purchase two FASTCAM Nova high-speed scientific cameras from LaVision Inc. End user is combining its two existing FASTCAM Nova S9 900K-M5 cameras with the two new units into a Tomographic Particle Image Velocimetry (Tomo-PIV) configuration. This 3D imaging technique strictly requires all cameras to have identical sensor dimensions (1024x1024 pixels) for consistent magnification and calibration. Additionally, the lab's core infrastructure is a proprietary LaVision environment, including a PTU-X timing unit and DaVis 10 software. Sourcing the new cameras from LaVision ensures direct compatibility and eliminates the need for extra synchronization hardware, secondary software licenses, or custom integration.
