We are seeking proposals for a Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW) solution to replace the current district-owned Fortinet FortiGate 1101E appliance. The scope of this project encompasses hardware procurement, system configuration, and technical training services. The proposed firewall will reside at a single central location within the district, serving as the single gateway for all inbound and outbound internet traffic. The district is requesting an upgraded Fortinet FortiGate model (or functionally equivalent appliance) engineered to optimize high-performance network throughput with deep SSL inspection, Intrusion Prevention (IPS), and advanced threat mitigation. The proposal must include a five-year support and service bundle, equivalent to a 5-year FortiCare and FortiGuard UTM bundle covering hardware replacement, technical support, and firmware upgrades. Included security service subscriptions must feature Application Control, dynamic CIPA-compliant Web Filtering, AntiSpam email security, Intrusion Prevention (IPS), and Advanced Malware Protection (encompassing antivirus, mobile malware, botnet protection, Content Disarm & Reconstruction [CDR], and Virus Outbreak Protection). The device must also natively support flexible SSL/VPN capabilities for both site-to-site and individual device-level remote connections. The winning vendor will be responsible for deployment, including network integration, rule set migration, and full operational verification. Furthermore, vendors must include structured, hands-on training and knowledge transfer for district IT staff to ensure smooth administrative handoff and ongoing management. Protecting existing district investments and minimizing disruption to ongoing operations are critical priorities. Any vendor proposing an alternative hardware or software brand outside the specified Fortinet architecture must guarantee full, seamless interoperability with the districts existing reporting platform (or supply a functionally equivalent enterprise-grade reporting and logging service at no additional charge). Alternative solutions must integrate smoothly into the district's current network infrastructure without requiring extensive retraining of IT personnel.
