BackgroundThe National Institutes of Health (NIH) is the nation`s medical research agencymaking important discoveries that improve health and save lives. The National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) improves dental, oral, and craniofacial health through research, research training, and the dissemination of health information. The Dental Clinical Resource Core (DCRC) conducts clinical research, provides training in clinical research through the Clinical Research Fellowship and provides an oral medicine and dental consultation service for the unique Clinical Center patient population. It is the goal of the DCRC to benefit both oral and systemic health. The DCRC has a continuing requirement for a part–time Oral Surgeon/Residency Trainer.Purpose and ObjectivesThe purpose of this acquisition is to procure a part–time Oral Surgeon and Residency Trainer to facilitate delivery of treatment and consultative services in the Dental Clinic as well as providing training to the Dental Clinic`s Oral Surgery Residents. With these services, it is expected that study subjects will be provided with surgical care, there will be appropriate management of subjects during their involvement in the research protocols, and residents will receive surgical training and management of medically complex patients in a research setting.
