Pensacola and Perdido Bays Estuary Program - Trash Free Waters Educational Video Production

Water-borne trash is a global issue, with far reaching consequences and impacts; however, the problem starts in local waterways, parking lots and roads. Trash-clogged creeks and streams aren’t just ugly, they pose serious health and safety risks. The Pensacola and Perdido Bays Estuary Program’s (PPBEP) Trash Free Waters project utilizes volunteer effort to identify and mediate potential sources and contributors of water-borne trash in three creeks of the Pensacola Bay System: Jones Creek in Escambia County, Carpenter Creek in the City of Pensacola, and Pond Creek in northern Santa Rosa County. All three creeks have experienced degradation due to alteration and development, and all three drain into impaired waterbodies. The Trash Free Waters project, supported by a grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Gulf of Mexico Division, supports PPBEP’s mission of protecting and restoring water quality and natural resources within the Pensacola and Perdido Bays and watersheds through partnerships, using a scientifically-sound, community-based approach to enhance resilience. This project has heavily engaged the community, existing grassroots efforts, and area schools to reduce water-borne trash and improve the safety, health and beauty of three local creeks. Community education is a crucial element of the Trash Free Waters project. To further this goal, the Estuary Program is looking to produce content for a Community Education Campaign that will highlight the impacts of waterborne litter, the value of volunteering in one’s community, while centering the theme of connectivity between people and our environment. PPBEP wishes to procure the services of a video production firm to develop three short videos for a community education campaign that highlights the impacts of waterborne trash and other activities associated with the Trash Free Waters project. Provisions for all stages of planning and video production, including but not limited to storyboarding, scripting, site visits, gear rentals, labor, filming, and editing should be included. PPBEP is seeking creative support and direction to shape the nature of the content.
