StanCOG is the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) and Regional Transportation Planning Agency (RTPA) for the Stanislaus County region, which is largely rural, with agricultural lands and open space. The majority of the county’s population lives in close proximity to State Route 99 in the cities of Modesto, Ceres, and Turlock. At present, public transit services are provided by two transit operators, the Stanislaus Regional Transit Authority (SRTA) and Turlock Transit.
